Mustafizur, Rishad, and Hridoy shine brightly in Bangladesh's narrow two-wicket victory against Sri Lanka.

Nuwan Thushara's final over injected a surge of excitement as Sri Lanka fiercely fought back late in the game. He dismissed Rishad Hossain with precision and then trapped Taskin Ahmed with a swinging yorker, leaving Bangladesh teetering at eight wickets down with 12 runs needed, swinging the game's momentum.

Yet, Mahmudullah's composure at the crease for Bangladesh, despite some tense moments, steered his team to victory with a last-ball win in the 19th over of their opening T20 World Cup 2024 match.

Aside from Sri Lanka's late resurgence, Bangladesh's stellar bowling performance in the first innings largely determined the outcome. Mustafizur Rahman, employing shorter lengths and well-executed cutters, led the charge with figures of 3 for 17, while Rishad's three-for in the middle overs also proved pivotal.

Mustafizur's dominance during Sri Lanka's middle overs collapse highlighted their downfall. Their struggle to find boundaries or rotate the strike against Bangladesh's quality bowling ultimately led to a disappointing total of 125 for 9 on a decent pitch. Although their bowlers made a valiant effort towards the end, it was insufficient to overturn the match in their favor.
